I recall, when I was a child, standing
in the middle of my street, awestruck by the magnificent
formation of clouds above my head—a sight to which the
rest of the world seemed oblivious. As the sounds of honking
horns guided my attention back to earthly concerns, the thought
occurred to me that it might be nice to have a camera with which
to capture such awesome beauty for later enjoyment. Since
acquiring that first camera and processing that first roll of
film, photography has fascinated me with its ability to peer
into the hidden beauties of reality, which we can rarely take
the time to appreciate in our daily lives.
In photographs we stare stare at length into the eyes of a
frozen moment and know its magnificence in full, serene and
indifferent, before it is inevitably crushed beneath the wheels
of time.
